Angels announce
Bethlehem’s birth:
Christ comes,
Dayspring dawns,
even Emmanuel!

Frankincense fine,
glittering Gold.

Herod’s hate hovers:
Intrigue invested in
Jerusalem
King’s
low Lies.

Manger – Myrrh
Noel! Noel!
one omniscient Offering!
praising Pray!
Quest
Reached. Rise,
shine! shimmering Star!

traitorous Tyrant tricked.

Upward united
voices Voice:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
eXcelsis! eXcelsis!
yields Your
Zion’s zeal.

Song Sonnet

Soft sleeping sounds held tight in chains,
behind bars of teeth and tongue,
mighty winds offer manna, sweet sugar cane,
awake against the chords of captivity struggled long.
Opposition brings strength, they break and start
brilliant, free flying as the dove,
fed the fiery ice of the deep heart
of passion, of blissful beauty above.
Fleeing forth their wing slicing air,
piercing in sorrowed joy all hearts,
they easily leave a mark, a tear,
stirring other sleeping sounds, afresh starts
so soon, the riant chorus fills the air,
a sound so sweet, so right, so rare.

If Love is a Lie

If love is a lie we tell ourselves … Lie to me.
If hope is a game of carrots in a world full of sticks … Let’s play.
If Heaven is a dream that has no waking … Dream on.
And when I die I’ll either find these things as concrete as a brick wall, or never know it all was smoke and mirrors …

I can wait, and while I do … I’ll love, hope, and try to make a heaven around me.
