Apples

Green Grannies, Pink Ladies, red-ravished Romes, gold-gloried Galas, stately Fujis, dappled Honeycrisps. Apples! A myriad flavor-trove, from tart to sweet, honeyed to aromatic, crisp and fresh … salivation starting at the thought. I’ll never forget the day I tried a humble Red Delicious at the farmer’s market, what a revelation in contrast from the grocery store apple of my youth … *their* crisp youth always long behind them. If only I had room for an orchard, I’d plant a hundred different varieties.
